Primary Care in Practice

We understand that starting out in independent practice can be daunting, and there may be other non-clinical skills that you wish to explore and develop to enhance your experience and confidence.

We want to help you feel prepared and confident while learning alongside your new colleagues and peers. That is why we are excited to offer a free learning programme open to the wider Primary Care Workforce, organised by Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub and hosted by local GPs.

Sessions are delivered through a combination of virtual and face-to-face learning.

General Practice Mentoring Scheme

Mentoring is the opportunity to have comfortable guided conversations with someone who understands your role in General Practice and can share ideas, knowledge and experiences.

A Mentor can support with a range of areas, such as appraisals, career development, complaints, leadership, partnership, parental leave, career break or return to work and retirement.

Continuing Professional Development funding

Funding has been made available to support Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), Nurses and Nursing Associates working in Primary Care across Coventry and Warwickshire. This funding is intended to help you build upon existing skills that are vital to the services and communities we support.

Funding Allocation

Each eligible member of staff can access up to £235 towards their professional development. The allocation belongs to the eligible individual. For example, a practice or PCN with 10 eligible members of staff has 10 separate allocations of up to £235 per person.

Clinical learning

Musculoskeletal Primary Care e-learning

The Musculoskeletal Primary Care programme is an accredited online training programme specifically designed to support first contact practitioners in a primary care environment.

Each online session takes around 20 to 30 minutes. You can record your knowledge and progress through self-assessments and completion certificates.

Skills for Health

Complete mandatory training on subjects that fall under the UK Core Skills Training Framework. Skills for Health offers e-learning designed to support consistency across the UK health sector.
