How do we support general practice?
The work we do spans every stage of your career in general practice, and every role within it; from Receptionist to Partner, from Trainee to Advanced Clinical Practice. Our work is organised around our four pillars:
Attract
We work to grow the future workforce – through quality-assured placements for students and trainees, apprenticeships, and initiatives that showcase general practice as a rewarding place to build a career.
Develop
We deliver thousands of training, education and CPD opportunities every year, alongside leadership programmes, fellowships and peer support networks for clinical and non-clinical staff across all roles.
Support
From induction programmes for those new to general practice, to wellbeing resources, coaching, mentoring and dedicated support for our growing multi-disciplinary teams – we are here throughout your time in general practice.
Retain
We design programmes specifically to keep experienced people in general practice – including schemes for late-career GPs and nurses, parental leave support, and our Gill Schweigert Innovation Awards, celebrating the outstanding work happening across the C&W workforce every year.
Our Team
The Training Hub team are advocates, champions and trusted colleagues for everyone working in general practice across Coventry and Warwickshire. Most of our team members work directly in general practice themselves – meaning they understand the reality of the environment.
We work in partnership with NHS England, the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care Board, GP practices, Primary Care Networks, Coventry University, Warwick Medical School, the GP School and our ICB. Our host organisation is Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care.
In 2025, The Training Hub was named winner of the Our Health Heroes award by Skills for Health, recognised in the Dedication to Lifelong Learning Culture category – reflecting the commitment of our team and the workforce we support.
Our challenge is to attract, develop, inspire and retain a workforce that meets the needs of our healthcare system – both today and in the future.
