YOUR ALLOCATION
£235 for each eligible member of staff
The allocation belongs to the eligible individual. For example , a practice or PCN with 10 eligible members of staff has 10 separate allocations of up to £235 per person.
Who is eligible?
- Allied health professionals, including Paramedics, Occupational Therapists, Podiatrists, Dietitians and Physiotherapists.
- Nurses and Nursing Associates
- Staff must be working in an eligible substantive primary care role
Part-time staff receive the same allocation. The £235 is not calculated pro rata.
How the allocation works
- Use it for one course or across several eligible activities
- Claim up to the value of your £235 allocation
- It cannot be paid as an upfront lump sum
- It cannot be pooled or transferred between staff
- Any remaining balance cannot be carried into 2027/28
IMPORTANT DEADLINE
Use your funding, or tell us you intend to use it, by 15 January 2027
Any funding that has not been used or declared for use by this date will be reallocated centrally by the Training Hub. It will be used to support a programme of free training from 1 February to 31 March 2027, available on a first come, first served basis.
You can access the free programme whether or not you have already used your individual £235 allocation.
How to utilise your funding
There are three ways to use or reclaim your individual allocation.

Book eligible external training
You may arrange suitable training independently and reclaim up to £235 through your practice.

Reclaim eligible training already taken
Your practice can invoice the Training Hub for eligible training completed or booked during the 2026/27 financial year, up to your remaining allocation.

When training costs more than £235
You can still choose a course that costs more than your allocation. The remaining balance will then need to be paid separately by you or your employer.
Where relevant, the Training Hub will raise an invoice for the difference.
What can CPD funding support?
It can support
- New clinical or professional skills
- Development linked to your role or career plans
- Learning identified through appraisal or your personal development plan
- Relevant conferences and course fees
- Learning that supports professional registration requirements
- Development linked to system and population health priorities
It cannot be used for
- Backfill or staff cover
- Statutory and mandatory training
- An upfront payment of the full allocation
- Transferring funding to another member of staff
- Carrying any unused balance into the next financial year

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can receive CPD funding?
Funding is available to eligible allied health professionals, nurses and nursing associates working in Coventry and Warwickshire primary care.
Is the allocation reduced for part-time staff?
No. Eligible staff receive the same allocation regardless of the number of hours they work.
Can I use the £235 across more than one course?
Yes. You can use the allocation in one amount or across several eligible activities, up to the total value available to you.
Can my funding be pooled with a colleague’s allocation?
No. Individual allocations cannot be pooled or transferred by staff, practices or PCNs. Any funding that remains unused or undeclared after 15 January 2027 will be reallocated centrally by the Training Hub to support the wider free training programme.
Can the funding pay for backfill or staff cover?
No. The funding cannot be used for backfill. It may cover an eligible conference or course fee where the learning aligns with your personal development plan or appraisal.
Can I reclaim training I have already completed?
Eligible training completed during the 2026/27 financial year can be considered, subject to your remaining allocation and the required evidence being submitted through your practice
What happens if the course costs more than £235?
You can still book it, but the amount above your remaining allocation will need to be paid separately by you or your employer.
Can I carry unused funding into the next financial year?
No. Any remaining individual balance cannot be carried forward into 2027/28.
What happens if I move roles?
If you move into another role that remains eligible for the CPD funding scheme, your remaining balance may move with you. Contact the Training Hub so we can confirm the arrangements
