After becoming an Independent Prescriber, Nida knew she didn’t want to stop there when it came to her development. Wanting to deepen her expertise and continue providing high-quality patient care, Nida enrolled at the University of Warwick on their ‘Improving Diabetes Care’ course, supported with funding from the Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub.
“The funding removed financial barriers and reinforced the value of continued professional development.“
Through our offer to fund the course for selected pharmacists, we covered the cost of Nida’s place on the Improving Diabetes Care course, deepening her clinical knowledge and practical skills around diabetes.
The course covered:
- Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management
- Evidence-based clinical practice
- Medication optimisation
- Insulin use and adjustment
- Cardiovascular risk reduction
- Patient-centred care in primary care settings
After completing the course, she now feels she can provide better care and better outcomes for her patients, as well as feeling like a more confident clinician. In her own words, the course allowed her to:
- Feel more confident in managing complex cases
- Working with patients to better optimise their care
- Have more meaningful conversations, improving outcomes
The overall result? Better care, better outcomes and a more confident clinician.
“I now see the impact daily. More meaningful consultations, evidence-based decisions, and improved patient engagement.“
