General Practice is where dietetics can really make a difference – working preventively, building relationships with patients over time, and being part of a team that genuinely values what we bring. If you’re thinking about this path, I’d love to help you find your way in.

How we support you

Whether you’re new to primary care or building a career here, The Training Hub is here to support you at every stage. We offer CPD funding, access to coaching and mentoring, wellbeing support, and connections to a network of Dietitians working across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Dietitians are central to the primary care model – managing long-term conditions, supporting prevention and reducing pressure on GPs. We want to make sure the support available to you reflects that.

Training and CPD

Our Training and CPD Calendar includes events relevant to Dietitians working in primary care, covering clinical updates, condition-specific training and cross-role learning. Many sessions are free to attend and accessible online or face to face across Coventry and Warwickshire.

We also run dedicated CPD and wellbeing events specifically for Dietitians and other MDT roles – bringing colleagues together to share practice, hear from their peers and take time for professional development, ensuring you continue to deliver high-quality care to your patients.

First Contact Practitioner pathway

Dietitians are one of the eligible professions for the First Contact Practitioner (FCP) pathway. FCPs are diagnostic clinicians working at master’s level, able to assess and manage patients presenting directly without GP referral.

If you’re working towards or already in an FCP role, CWTH can support you with the roadmap verification process and connect you with supervisors and peer networks across the region.

Coaching

CWTH offers access to coaching for Dietitians working in primary care. Coaching is a confidential, forward-focused conversation to help you think through challenges, develop professionally and build confidence in your role.

Sessions are available to all Dietitians working in general practice or PCNs across Coventry and Warwickshire, regardless of career stage.

Mentoring

Dietitians are one of the eligible professions for the First Contact Practitioner (FCP) pathway. FCPs are diagnostic clinicians working at master’s level, able to assess and manage patients presenting directly without GP referral.

If you’re working towards or already in an FCP role, CWTH can support you with the roadmap verification process and connect you with supervisors and peer networks across the region.
