The topic will be infection control.

The session will be divided between two subjects:

  • Antimicrobial stewardship: WHO has declared that AMR is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity

No new classes of antibiotic have been discovered since the 1980s. This, together with the increased and inappropriate use of the drugs we already have, means we are heading rapidly towards a world in which our antibiotics no longer work. We need to act, and act now, to make sure that our children and future generations continue to benefit from these life-saving medicines. This valuable session will discuss your role in AMR awareness. The session will also include C.diff, UTI and sepsis management.

  • The environmental audit process:

This session will enhance your understanding of what is required within the environment of the GP practice ensuring it is compliant with IPC standards consistent with the Health & Social Care Act 2012.  This will also support the practice in preparation ahead of CQC visits.
