Throughout the session, we will cover key topics such as understanding the NHS Health Check program within national guidance, reviewing its components and structure, outlining processes for initial assessments, and discussing risk calculation and communication to patients.
Additionally, we will explore lifestyle interventions tailored to various risk levels, considerations for identifying individuals at higher risk of cardiovascular disease, and the NHS Health Check Competency Framework.
Join us as we delve into these critical aspects of preventive healthcare and learn strategies to increase uptake for NHS Health Checks. Led by expert instructors, this training promises to enhance your practice and improve patient outcomes.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the NHS Health Check (HC) within context of National ‘Best Practice’ Guidance.
- Review the 4 key components of NHS Health Checks within program standards. How is this structured in practice?
- Outline processes required as part of the ‘initial assessment’ – how can we manage this consultation?
- Discuss how we can calculate and communicate level of risk to individual patients.
- Examine lifestyle interventions that are relevant to all levels of calculated risk, and how we can tailor this patients identified as having risk factors.
- Consider when to signpost for individuals who may be at higher risk of CVD.
- Consider how hypertension, type 2 diabetes atrial fibrillation, hypercholesterolaemia and cirrhosis may be risk assessed during an NHS Health Check.
- Look at the NHS Health Checks Competency Framework and how we can use this going back into practice.
- Discuss how we can increase update for NHS Health Checks
