In line with the NICE guidelines PH 38, (2012 updated 2017) Type 2 diabetes Prevention in people at high risk, this 90 minute session will highlight the main aspects of how to assess for pre-diabetes using the NHS Health Check and /or at opportunistic review of patients attending for other health issues.

Following an explanation of normal glucose regulation, and what can go wrong, this short course will use a case study approach to support delegates to apply their new and existing knowledge to identify those people at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and how to refer to appropriate services such as the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme and what that involves.

The main aim of this session is to provide a safe environment to ask questions and provide clarification on how to effectively support lifestyle changes that are recommended to prevent Type 2 diabetes.
