The Midlands Respiratory Networks have arranged a Spirometry Refresher Training webinar on Tuesday 22nd March 9.30-11.30 and on Wednesday 23rd March 13.30-15.30 to equip healthcare professionals with the confidence, knowledge and understanding to restart spirometry successfully.
The NHS Long Term Plan identified respiratory disease as a national clinical priority; however, COVID has had a significant impact on the diagnosis of respiratory disease with rates of both diagnosis and spirometry falling sharply below pre-pandemic levels.
This training webinar is aimed at Healthcare professionals within the Midlands region who have previously attained Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology (ARTP) spirometry certification / are part way through certification / have previously attained certification.
The webinar agenda will include :
- Infection Protection & Control: What we know about Covid19 infection, AGPs, PPE, FFP3, donning & doffing – what about coughing?
- Environment: Room ventilation, HEPA filters, air scrubbers, ACH and “fallow” periods.
- Models of delivery: Car spirometry, CDCs, “Blowing Buses”, Two-room models, Home spirometry
- Best spirometry quality revisited: Repeatability, troubleshooting, errors and pitfalls.
- Updates on spirometry: GLI reference values, ATS/ERS Interpretation, new devices.
- Practical interpretation of spirometry samples
- Spirometry Q&A session with speakers.
