A free, 3.5hr webinar, this course offers something both for those who are new to childhood adversity (ACEs) and trauma as a concept and those with some existing prior knowledge. It is aimed at both those who work with children and young people AND those who work regularly with adults.
The training provides an understanding to the potential impacts of adverse childhood experiences and trauma across the life course. Looking into how to recognise the signs of trauma behaviour whilst enabling an understanding of what trauma informed and responsive practice means whilst providing insight of how an organisation can begin the journey towards a trauma informed organisational culture.
The training has the following aims:
- To develop understanding of the concepts behind the potential impact of childhood adversity and trauma across the life course
- To understand how to recognise the signs of trauma in behaviour.
- To recognise and understand the potential impact of working with trauma, including concepts such as vicarious trauma.
- To gain a basic understanding into how an organisation can begin a journey towards a trauma-informed organisational culture.
This introductory module has been developed in partnership between the West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership and Barnardo's.
