This program is a foundational course on Type 2 Diabetes suitable for an audience of General Practitioners, Practice Nurses and other healthcare professionals working with or wanting to work with people living with diabetes.

The learning objectives are by the end of this training you will be able to:

  • Understand the progressive nature of Type 2 Diabetes and the importance of a patient centred approach to glycaemic control, weight and cardiovascular risk management
  • Guide people living with Diabetes through pre-insulin treatments including: diet, exercise, oral and non-insulin injectable therapies
  • Understand the results of the main cardiovascular outcome trials conducted with diabetes medications and their implications on treatment guidelines
  • Understand national and international guidelines for the management of Type 2 Diabetes
  • Implement learnings through the discussion of patient case studies

The 3-hour course is CPD accredited.
