Gill Schweigert Innovation Award – Nominations Open for 2026
Now in its third year, the Gill Schweigert Innovation Award celebrates outstanding innovation in nursing across Coventry and Warwickshire General Practice. We’re looking for nurses and nursing teams who are making a real difference – delivering innovative, patient-focused care, leading quality improvements, and driving projects that demonstrate meaningful outcomes.
This award champions the vital contribution of nurses in General Practice and across the wider system. It recognises the creativity, commitment and leadership that helps shape better care for our communities.

Introducing the GP Digital Hub
We are pleased to share a new piece of work taking shape across Coventry and Warwickshire, the GP Digital Hub.
The idea is a simple one. We know how stretched practices are, and how much of the job of getting new staff confident on our everyday systems falls on senior colleagues at the busiest times. The GP Digital Hub is here to help, by giving every member of the general practice workforce, clinical and non clinical alike, short and practical training on the systems they use day to day, available whenever they need it.
The training is built around a simple Bronze, Silver and Gold model, tailored by role, so that a new receptionist, a practice manager and a new clinician each get what is most useful to them.
The content is deliberately short, very brief videos covering one task at a time, and that is by design. Busy practice staff rarely have a free hour for training, so each clip can be watched in the gaps of the day, paused and repeated as often as needed, and returned to whenever someone hits a task they do not do very often. Keeping things this short and self paced makes the training genuinely usable in a real working day, and accessible to everyone whatever their starting confidence.
We are starting with the basics of EMIS Web, Docman and Accurx, and we will be piloting the first content from early August, beginning with new clinical starters arriving via the rotation of resident doctors, with the non clinical workforce to follow.
We would love your involvement. If your practice would be interested in helping us pilot over the coming months, or if you have thoughts on what would be most useful to cover, we would really like to hear from you. Please get in touch by emailing cw.traininghub@nhs.net or sing.tiong@nhs.net .
The GP Digital Hub is being developed by the Coventry and Warwickshire Training Hub alongside the IPC Digital Champions, with the support of colleagues across the ICB and our wider system partners.

Carers Support Network
Balancing a clinical career alongside caring responsibilities can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging, unpredictable, and isolating at times. The Carers Support Network provides a supportive space for GPs across Coventry and Warwickshire who are caring for children, partners, relatives, or other dependants.
Join us for an informal peer support session one Friday a month at 12:00pm in Leamington Spa. These relaxed drop-in meetings provide an opportunity to share experiences, discuss challenges, exchange ideas, and connect with fellow GP carers in a supportive and confidential environment. There is no formal agenda – just a chance to meet others who understand the balancing act of caring and clinical practice.
