This interactive update session is designed to refresh and reinforce core wound care knowledge and practical skills for HCAs and TNAs working in general practice. It will cover current best practices in wound assessment, dressing selection, and management of common wound types in primary care.

Learning Outcomes - By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of wound healing and the stages involved
  • Identify different types of wounds commonly seen in general practice (e.g., pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, surgical wounds)
  • Accurately assess and document wound condition using evidence-based tools
  • Make informed choices on dressing selection, considering wound type and patient factors
  • Recognise when to escalate care or refer to specialist services
  • Review infection prevention and control practices in wound care
  • Reflect on current practice and identify areas for improvement
