PrescQIPP have worked with Lighthouse Sustainability to develop a series of webinars to support raising carbon awareness and understanding for healthcare. We will be running a series of 6 ‘learn at lunch’ webinars covering various topics that are included in carbon literacy training with examples relevant to healthcare and medicines optimisation.

Please note: that this is not a certified carbon literacy course and therefore accreditation isn’t available, but we will signpost to further courses where you can obtain carbon literacy certification if you need this. PrescQIPP will provide a certificate of attendance to anyone that attends all 6 of our webinars.

The webinars will be recorded and published on the PrescQIPP website. The 6 webinars are:

  1. Climate Science- Thursday 28th September 2023 1pm to 2pm An overview of the science behind climate change, key terminology and how the climate has warmed in recent history. Why is climate change now an emergency?
  2. Impacts of Climate Change – Thursday 19th October 2023 1pm to 2pm Key global and local impacts of climate change, including specific health related impacts and biodiversity.
  3. Climate Change - what are we doing about it? – Thursday 23rd November 2023 1pm to 2pm How is the NHS addressing Climate Change and who is leading?
  4. Carbon Footprinting; Personal and company – Thursday 14th December 2023 1pm to 2pm Key terminology including footprinting; carbon neutral; offsetting and net zero. Do you know your Scopes?
  5. Circular economy and waste – Thursday 18th January 2024, 1pm to 2pm How does circularity fit with carbon reduction? Innovative examples of waste and carbon reduction from across the UK.
  6. Taking Action- Thursday 15th February 2024 1pm to 2pm What actions should you prioritise and how can you get others on board?
