This is a face-to-face course

Learning Outcomes:

  • To help maintain awareness of developments in and up to date of information about contraceptive issues and current prescribing
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of key reproductive and sexual health issues in the contraceptive consultation
  • Allows discussion of relevant practice problems and their solutions
  • Particularly related to COVID and ongoing problems
  • Develop an awareness of how attitudes and values may affect practice
  • Raised awareness of ongoing development of practice and professional accountability within the contraceptive field

Programme

  • Introductions and an Exploration of current and future practice
  • What's new in the last 1-2 years - New/updated Faculty Guidance / UKMeC
  • All methods update inc LARCs
  • Specific issues around:

a) some specific populations - Over 40s/Young people/Obesity/Overweight

b) specific medical contraindications and case studies within the wider sexual health consultation 

  • Evaluations followed by

 (OPTIONAL SESSION) An overview of requirement to accredit or become an IUD or implant fitter                                                      

2 short breaks will also be organised during morning and afternoon sessions
